United States Naturalizations - 1999 to 2017

Week 33 Dataset and Historical Background

Posted by David Velleca on October 15, 2018

Historical Background

From its very beginnings, the United States has welcomed immigrants from all over the world. Naturalization is the process by which immigrants become United States citizens. Each year hundreds of thousands of individuals take the Oath of Allegiance and become new citizens of the United States.

Our dataset this week looks at the number of naturalizations in the United States by their Country of birth. There should be plenty of insights to discover in this data. We'd love to see what you can do with this week's dataset, create your viz and post your work to Tableau Public and Twitter with the hashtag #ThrowbackDataThursday, tagging @TThrowbackThurs. We'd really love to see what you can come up with!

Data Source

This week's dataset comes from Department of Homeland Security. Please be sure to cite the source on your viz.
